Picture this: October 5th, 2023. I'm cozied up in my room, just like so many others, tuned into the Webflow Conf 2023. And oh boy, I lost count of how many times I blurted out a "WOW!" The excitement was real, my friends.
Webflow was cooking up a storm with their new updates, and it's safe to say they've spiced things up for us web creators. From variables to localization and a whole lot more, they've been working their magic.
Let's dive into the highlights, my fellow web enthusiasts. Trust me; you won't want to miss this!
New sites Capabilities
New Logo, New Look
Webflow came in hot with a fresh rebrand!
Everything has this sleek Dark Mode touch; the text is quite small but overall looks nice.
Native Integration with Spline
Webflow also introduced a native integration with Spline, with this you can control objects, cameras, lightening and more using Native Webflow Interactions and create immersive websites.
Localization
One of exciting updates is Localization, to assist businesses in adapt their content to suit a global audience easily without need for third party tools. Although not available, it would be live soon.
Styling and Design System
Variables
They also introduced Variables making it a lot easier to customize the style Panel way beyond colors, customizing text and sizes variables without custom code. Also, you can Animate the variables in the interactions panel, creating dark mode and all.
Custom CSS Properties
I really love this update, before to add some CSS properties that are not in webflow, you have to use an embed, but now they simplify it and you can add them in the style panel.
This will be available in the next few months :)
Components & Components Slots
They updated components and make it easier to make changes to components properties making it easier to update the component images, text etc
With slots you can now create some sort of an area, where you can add new sections, components within a components, images and more. Making components more flexible and customizable
Integration
Update to Webflow APIs
Webflow introduced new APIs that allow developers to integrate more deeply with Webflow’s core features.
- CRM, Analytics, Automations, Assets API
- Component Designer APIs
- Localization API (Set to release next month)
Webflow Apps
Webflow just rolled out the next-gen Webflow Apps, and they've made it super easy to connect with cool tools like HubSpot, Unsplash, Jasper, Finsweet, and Memberstack, all right within the Designer.
Figma to Webflow Sync
Webflow has made Figma integration even better! Now, you can effortlessly bring in Figma components and all their related variables into Webflow with automatic imports.
Other Updates
Importing React components with DevLink
Now, you can import React components, giving your Webflow sites a boost with powerful React-built features.
Collaborations
They've introduced specific workflows for commenting, editing, and publishing, making collaboration smoother. Plus, there are new publishing workflows and page branching to streamline the process even more.
Well, that's a wrap for the Webflow 2023 updates!
Can't wait to dive in and experiment with these features to take our projects to the next level. Catch you all soon! 🚀
